The Never Rust bin is based on the metal ‘Barnsley’ litter bin and is widely used throughout the United Kingdom and is a popular choice with councils and local authorities. It is especially popular in coastal areas as Glass Fibre Composite (GFC) is unaffected by extreme temperature changes or by salt water so will therefore not corrode when located close to the sea. It is also environmentally friendly with 65% of its construction coming from renewable sources.
The unit features a front opening hinged door fitted with a budget lock as standard with the option to upgrade to a slam lock available. Slam lock is a stainless steel lock which is easily opened using a square T key and closes with a push of the door against a spring loaded boss.
Two large apertures offer excellent usability and make the bin suitable for use in busy locations and a lift out galvanised steel liner makes emptying the bin a quick and simple task. A Tidyman plate is fitted to the front and back of the bin and this is available highlighted in either silver of gold.
The GFC litter bins are available with a choice of either a textured, smooth or Victoriana finish. The textured finish uses PTX textured paint to give a rough finish not too dissimilar to sandpaper and is designed to prevent unwanted graffiti and posters being applied to the bin. The smooth finish uses a smoother pseudo-cast iron finish with only a slight texture and no roughness.
The Victoriana finishes uses the smooth finish with only a slight texture and no roughness with the addition of highlighted beading as standard to give a classic Victorian appearance. The Victoriana finish is a popular choice for heritage sites and town centres.
A choice of two optional ashtrays is available for this bin and these are fitted at the factory. The circular Easyfit ashtray features a spring loaded butterfly bottom for quick emptying into the liner below. The standard ashtray top features a counter balance emptying system with a recessed drop area for cigarette and cigar butts. Both ashtrays are available in either gold or silver finishes.
A stainless steel stubber plate can be added to the lid of the bin and this has been designed to encourage smokers to use it to stub out their cigarettes instead of using the body of the bin and leaving unsightly marks on it. The stubber plate can be specified with either ashtray option.
The bin is supplied with a pre-drilled base that allows it to be securely fixed to the ground using RAWL bolts. Alternatively ground anchor feet are available which allow you to site the bin in freshly laid concrete. The feet bolt to the bottom of the bin and once the bin is in place and the concrete has cured, the bin is securely held in position.
